Shoji Kawai has been appointed as the new * Software that enhances organizational communication and operations, leading to increased efficiency.working on new products in response to customer requests. During that time, I also provided guidance in quality management and served as the manager of the Southern Alps Factory (Iida, Nagano), which was completed in 2009, from 2014 for about three years. I then returned to the head office and worked in the Operations Department and Sales. So, I’ve ex-perienced every department other than Design and Accounting. Commencement of sheet printing— What are the roles of each of the three current production sites? —We have three factories: the Oguchi Factory (Niwa, Aichi), the Inuyama Factory (Inuyama, Aichi), and the Southern Alps Factory. The Southern Alps Factory has two gravure print-ing machines. One of them is equipped with 11 colors and 8 colors. We also have two dry lamination ma-chines, four slitting machines, and four pouch making machines, which allow us to handle everything from printing to bag production. The Oguchi Factory also has two gravure printing machines. One is a 6-color straight machine, and the other is a machine dedicated to sheet printing that we introduced about half a year ago. This is because Southern Alps Factory 16Representative Director and President at Daiwa Gravure, a gravure converter special-izing in packaging development and manufac-turing for the food and cosmetics industries. Under President Kawai’s leadership, Daiwa Gravure will venture into a group management approach, marking the beginning of its second founding. We spoke with President Kawai about the company’s current strengths in de-veloping original products incorporated with unique ideas and its future prospects.After about three and a half years in the Corpo-rate Planning Office, I returned to my original de-velopment department, which had been renamed the R&D Headquarters, where I spent several years Joined R&D department to create new products— Please tell us about your professional back-ground. —I joined the company in 1994. I chose to work in the Technology Development Department because I wanted to be involved in product development. Seven or eight years later, I was called in by the then-execu-tives and was assigned to the Corporate Planning Of-fice. Back then, I took on responsibilities such as de-veloping mid-term business plans, conducting cost accounting, and implementing HR system reforms. It was around the year 2000, so I assumed tasks usual-ly handled by an IT department, like introducing per-sonal computers and groupware(*). I wanted to work in product development, but I found myself studying accounting. However, that ultimately led me to learn about business during my time here.
