technology to accommodate printing and bag-making of films with high degree of uneven thickness, we have been able to bring in a variety of jobs that cannot be done else-where. The best thing to do is to produce a film with little unevenness, but when a film with some unevenness is pro-duced, it would be good if the film manufacturer’s customer could print or make bags, but in the end, it becomes too difficult, and the customer approaches us because it is too good to throw it away. Naturally, we try to minimize losses as much as possible in our processing work, but there are times when customers bring in raw materials that are diffi-cult to handle elsewhere, so in a sense, we are developing a niche business.Aiming to be a true navigatorGodo Kasei has recently seen an increase in new work re-quests. “We feel that not because the labor costs in Hokkai-do are lower than in the main island but the number of com-panies engaged in printing and converting is decreasing. Also, even with printing and processing, hygiene control in the factory is necessary when it comes to food applications, so choices may be limited,” says President Tachibana.Regarding the future direction of the business, Tachiba-na cited two key points. And this year, we declared our commitment to achieving the SDGs, and under the slogan and theme of “Navigator of Food and Environment (Lifestyles),” we are committed to continuing and developing together with our customers, not only through the stable supply of safe and secure products, but also through the creation of local em-ployment and social contribution activities as a company rooted in Otaru, in order to become a company that has value to the local community.
