AGC's Glass Substrates M100/200 Series for AR/MR Glasses Wins CES 2025 Innovation Award
AGC (AGC Inc., Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Hirai), a world-leading manufacturer of glass, chemicals and other high-tech materials, announces that its glass substrate M100/200 series for AR/MR glasses has been selected as an ‘Honoree’ in the CES 2025 Innovation Awards® program. CES is highly influential tech event held annually in Las Vegas, serving as a global platform for innovation. The CES Innovation Awards recognize products and services with outstanding design and engineering from among the many entries submitted by CES exhibitors worldwide. The M100/200 series have been honored in the ‘XR Technologies & Accessories’ category.
In recent years, there has been significant development in displays that overlay virtual information onto real-world scenery, enabling the virtual expansion of the immediate environment. One notable device in this category is the glasses-type device known as "AR/MR glasses", which supports the display of Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) content. These AR/MR glasses have attracted considerable attention and are expected to expand in the market as the next-generation device following smartphones.
With their functionality with various characteristics such as high refractive index, high transmittance, high flatness, and surface smoothness, the AGC’s glass substrates enable creation of high-performance AR/MR glasses.
The AGC Group will be exhibiting at the Las Vegas Convention Center during CES 2025. Further details will be announced soon.
