Futamura ready to inspire at Interpack 2023

Futamura UK Ltd. will exhibit at Interpack 2023 at the Messe Dusseldorf from the 4th – 10th May. The show, which typically takes place every three years, is hotly anticipated after the 2020 event was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Futamura, the world’s leading manufacturer of sustainable cellulose packaging films, will showcase a broad selection of its renewable and compostable NatureFlex™ range. Made from responsibly sourced wood pulp, NatureFlex™ films meet all global standards for industrial composting, including BS EN13432 and are independently certified for backyard composting, while many grades also comply with the French AGEC Law. Due to the continued rise in demand for NatureFlex™ films, Futamura has recently made a significant investment in a new production line at its European manufacturing facility. The new casting machine has boosted production capacity by around 25%, reducing Futamura’s lead times while increasing the quantities of film that it can offer the marketplace.

Visitors to the stand (Hall 9/F13) can expect to see the latest in cellulosic innovation, such as the recently launched NVO microwavable and ovenable multi-layer films and an array of branded packaging examples from around the world. Futamura’s expert team will be on hand to discuss any new product developments and discuss any concern on recent packaging legislation.

Amaia Cowan, Business Development Manager, Futamura EMEA, said, “There have been many advances in the compostable packaging market recently and we hope to inspire retailers, brand owners and manufacturers of the many benefits of choosing NatureFlex™ for their packaging portfolio. We are especially keen to showcase those best-fit applications - where it really makes sense to use compostable packaging - like fruit labels, coffee capsules, and small format solutions.” Mrs Cowan added, “This show has been a long-time coming and we’re looking forward to seeing many familiar faces, as well as making new contacts.”

On top of excellent sustainability credentials and outstanding product protection, NatureFlex™ films also offer first-rate machine performance. Visitors can see this for themselves at the stands of many machine manufacturers, where the films will be running (full list available at Futamura’s stand). Domino will also showcase coded NatureFlex™ films, a technological advancement for adding a message onto the film without printing.

For an added sustainability bonus, Andy Sweetman, Sales & Marketing Director at Futamura EMEA, will present at the bio!PAC conference on bioplastics and packaging, held alongside Interpack. Mr Sweetman’s expert presentation, ‘Functional performance for compostable packaging’, will take place during the morning session on Monday, 8th May, from 9:55 – 10:15 a.m.

Futamura invites all Interpack attendees interested in exploring environmentally responsible packaging solutions to visit its stand (Hall 9/F13), see the possibilities available with compostable films, and speak to its team of sustainable packaging specialists.
