The first publicly disclosed mass‑production coating machine for flexible perovskite solar cells with a maximum coating width of 1,000 mm

At CONVERTECH 2026, held in Tokyo in late January 2026, Hirano Tecseed unveiled the world’s first roll-to-roll (R2R) coating machine developed for the mass production of flexible perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The machine features a wide-web configuration with a roll width of 1,200 mm, a maximum substrate width of 1,050 mm, and a maximum coating width of 1,000 mm. It was designed in line with the development goal of “manufacturing 1-meter-wide film-type PSCs,” as set forth in a Japanese national project. This coating machine was developed to address key challenges associated with the large-scale production of flexible PSCs.
