TOPPAN Begins Mass Production of Flexible Packaging Using Japan's First EB Offset Printing
TOPPAN Co., Ltd. , a group company of TOPPAN Holdings, has developed Japan’s first flexible packaging product using EB offset printing and will begin mass production in May 2026.

EB offset printing is a printing method that utilizes electron beams (EB). It features the elimination of processes requiring high-temperature dryers, as the ink is instantly cured by irradiating it with EB. Furthermore, as this printing method contains almost no organic solvents, it significantly reduces emissions of VOCs (volatile organic compounds). Consequently, compared to gravure printing, which is the mainstream method in Japan, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions during the printing process by approximately 16%.
Although not specified in Toppan Holdings’ press release, the EB offset press that Toppan has adopted this time is believed to be COMEXI’s CI Evolution. In Japan, SCREEN Graphic Solutions distributes it.
