Tokyo \u2013 May 25, 2023 \u2013 Toppan , a global leader in communication, security, packaging, d\u00e9cor materials, and electronics solutions, will participate for the first time in ProPak MENA 2023<\/a>, the international packaging and processing technology event due to be held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo from May 28 to 30.

Launched in 2021, ProPak MENA is one of the most comprehensive large-scale packaging-related expos in the Africa region. The 2022 event attracted in excess of 300 companies and 8,000 visitors. This year Toppan will present GL BARRIER transparent barrier film and other Toppan Group packaging and film solutions to packaging producers and end-users, such as manufacturers of food and personal care goods, in the African market, which has continued to show remarkable growth in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In May 2021 Toppan published its Medium Term Plan for the period April 2021 to March 2023, taking a key concept of Digital & Sustainable Transformation. One of the priorities defined in the plan is accelerating expansion of the global packaging business by catering to demand for sustainable solutions and establishing networks facilitating local production for local consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toppan has thus far advanced its packaging business in Indonesia, Thailand, China, and other parts of Asia and established manufacturing and supply capabilities for markets in Europe and the Americas by launching operations at Toppan USA\u2019s Georgia Plant in April 2016. Toppan acquired InterFlex Group, a packaging manufacturer with bases in the U.S. and U.K., in 2021. Toppan has also recently brought onboard leading India-based film manufacturer Toppan Speciality Films and Thailand-based packaging manufacturer Majend Makcs as consolidated subsidiaries, as it strengthens global manufacturing and sales capabilities with an eye on markets including North, Central, and South America, Europe, and Asia. In late 2024, Toppan plans to launch operations at a new GL BARRIER plant in the Czech Republic to enable production in optimal locations on a global scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Situated in close proximity to countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Egypt is a hub for maritime traffic and trade that sees large numbers of people from various countries coming together. Against a background of population growth, it has a diverse economy and important consumer markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toppan sees Africa and the Middle East as vital growth markets for flexible packaging. Participating in ProPak MENA will be an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of GL BARRIER and Toppan\u2019s global converting business as well as to drive further expansion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u30fb Mono-material barrier packaging<\/strong>
As a new addition to the GL BARRIER lineup, Toppan has developed packaging that delivers excellent performance in terms of barrier properties and other characteristics while employing mono-material compositions, such as polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE), rather than laminating multiple materials to fulfill different roles. The superior suitability for recycling of these packaging materials has been recognized by multiple European recyclability assessment bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
