November\n2023:<\/strong>  Following its successful European launch\nduring Labelexpo in Brussels, Flint Group\u2019s award-winning Evolution products\nare now available for narrow web printers worldwide. The latest innovation\nincludes Food Contact Material (FCM) compliant technologies that enhance shrink\nsleeves and label recyclability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evolution products, aptly named because they\nenable packaging to be reused in ever-evolving forms, are designed to increase\nthe yield of material reclaimed from the recycling process by enabling label\nmaterial to be recycled at the same time as a PET bottle without risk of\ncontamination. Using Evolution products, previously unrecyclable products can\nbe reprocessed, potentially boosting reclaimed material yield by up to 10%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evolution\nDeinking Primer<\/strong> is applied\nto the substrate before the ink and provides strong ink adhesion throughout the\nlife of the label.  The Primer then\nenables the ink to be released (de-inked) into the recycling caustic wash and\nthe substrate is broken down into flakes. This ensures that more than 99% of\nthe material can be recycled into something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In contrast, Evolution Varnish<\/strong> ensures\nthat inks remain on the label during the caustic wash used in the recycling\nprocess. The varnish application avoids contamination of the washing solution\nwhile not impacting the floatability of the label, and therefore, the resulting\nquality of the reclaimed material is significantly improved. The protected ink\ncan then be skimmed off with the floating label and directed to an alternative\nwaste stream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Evolution product range, previously\nlaunched in North America, has been recognised by the Association of Plastic\nRecyclers (APR) for compliance with critical guidance for PET packaging and\nrecently won the Environmental Sustainability category at the 2022 Global Label\nAwards at Labelexpo Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European versions of these products are entirely FCM compliant, and the Deinking Primer has been shortlisted in the pre-commercialised category at the Packaging Europe Sustainability Awards 2023.
