{"id":4686,"date":"2026-04-30T08:12:11","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T23:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ctiweb.co.jp\/con\/en\/?p=4686"},"modified":"2026-04-30T08:12:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T23:12:14","slug":"resonac-endorses-the-nbcis-position-paper-on-amendments-to-reach-proposed-by-the-german-federal-institute-for-occupational-safety-and-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ctiweb.co.jp\/con\/en\/resonac-endorses-the-nbcis-position-paper-on-amendments-to-reach-proposed-by-the-german-federal-institute-for-occupational-safety-and-health","title":{"rendered":"Resonac endorses the NBCI's position paper on amendments to REACH proposed by the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.resonac.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resonac Holdings Corporation<\/a><\/strong> (President and CEO: Hidehito Takahashi, hereinafter referred to as \"Resonac\") has been working with external organizations to promote public acceptance of carbon nanotubes (CNTs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January 2026, the Nanotechnology Business Creation Initiative (NBCI) issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbci.jp\/topics\/public\/doc\/20260122_NBCIPositionStatementonREACHRegulationofCarbonNanotubes%EF%BC%88January222026%EF%BC%89.pdf\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbci.jp\/topics\/public\/doc\/20260122_NBCIPositionStatementonREACHRegulationofCarbonNanotubes%EF%BC%88January222026%EF%BC%89.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">position paper<\/a> in response to the proposal by the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) of Germany. BAuA has proposed the uniform grouping of fibrous substances based on the WHO\u2019s definition of fibrous substances* for the assessment of regulatory restrictions and risks of fibrous substances. However, NBCI points out that, since CNTs exhibit significant physicochemical diversity, regulating them solely based on shape and size lacks scientific justification. Given that CNTs are an indispensable material for a broad range of industries, the paper also expresses concern that such regulations may prevent European citizens and the global community from fully benefiting from the many advantages of CNTs.
