Resonac Corporation<\/a><\/strong> (President and CEO: Hidehito Takahashi, hereinafter \u201cResonac\u201d) announced that it will expand its production capacity for hard disk media from the current level of approximately 160 million disks to about 210 million disks annually, representing a 31% increase. The company will position its group company, Resonac HD Singapore Pte. Ltd. (RHDS), as the core production hub and plans to gradually launch additional production lines from 2027 onward, in line with market trends and demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand for data center storage is expected to grow over the medium to long term, driven by the rapid adoption of generative AI and cloud services(1). In particular, nearline(<\/em>2) hard disk drives (HDDs)\u2014known for their high reliability, large capacity, and cost efficiency\u2014are expected to continue playing a central role in data storage infrastructure. In response to these market conditions, Resonac will restructure and expand its production capacity across the group to strengthen its stable supply of hard disk media. At RHDS, the company will introduce new production equipment by utilizing both existing and currently idle floor space. To enhance investment efficiency, certain idle equipment from facilities that have been closed, including the company\u2019s former site in Taiwan, will be relocated to RHDS as part of the capacity expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking ahead, Resonac will continue evaluating further production capacity increases in response to market growth and expanding customer needs. Through the development and supply of hard disk media with industry-leading recording density, the company aims to support digital infrastructure\u2014including data centers\u2014and contribute to the advancement of a highly digitalized society.
