Characteristics:
The knife unit uses a die-set configuration, which allows the blade shape to be changed to handle the desired cutting pattern (including punching). Although the upper cutter moves vertically against the lower cutter, the lower cutter slides horizontally in synchronization with the traveling sheet to be cut, allowing for travel cutting to be synchronized to the line speed. As such, the line speed is constant, while factors that cause sheet slip damage and cutting precision variation that may result during acceleration and deceleration during intermittent operation are eliminated. The series of knife unit cutting actions is driven by a simple drive system using one drive shaft, so the design applies an extremely low amount of load power for a die-set type cutting machine. As such, it allows for high-speed, high-precision cutting.
